In December 2025, Council eliminated the cost of criminal record checks for employment as a way to reduce financial barriers for residents seeking work. This change reflects the Municipality’s commitment to fairness, inclusion, and reducing barriers that may disproportionately affect those facing financial constraints.
The following applies to residents of the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg.
If you require a criminal record check for work or volunteering, it can be obtained free of charge at your local RCMP detachment.
Please take the following items to your local RCMP detachment:
- Two pieces of Government-issued I.D., one must have your photo, original and unaltered.
- Self-addressed stamped envelope.
Once completed, your criminal record check will be mailed back to you in the envelope you have provided.
There is no charge for criminal record checks.
