Volunteers are the heart of the community, something the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg fully understands.

Would you like to give back to your community in some way?  Do you have a skill that a local organization may need?  Do you want to make your community a better place to live? If you answered yes to any of these questions, please visit the Volunteer NS website to see what volunteer opportunities there are:  Volunteer NS or follow their Facebook page.

Annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony & Provincial Volunteer Award

The Municipality hosts an annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony to officially say thank you to our volunteers for making our communities a better place to live, work and play.  At this ceremony, individuals who have been nominated by their communities are recognized by the Municipality. We also celebrate those individuals who have been nominated for a Provincial Volunteer Award.

Each year the Municipality puts a call out to organizations and the community to nominate an individual who they feel deserves to receive this Provincial recognition. From the nominations, the Municipality is left with the difficult task of selecting one volunteer to represent all the volunteers in the Municipality at the Provincial Award Ceremony held in Halifax.

Meet our 2024 Provincial Volunteer Representative - Bruce Veinotte!

Bruce has dedicated over six decades of his life to volunteering, starting from his teenage years. His commitment spans various activities aimed at fostering the growth of the Church Congregation and serving the community. Whether it's mowing lawns, plowing snow, assisting families during funerals, visiting seniors, or distributing bulletins and church information to those without emails, Bruce is always ready to lend a helping hand. His presence is consistently warm and welcoming, reflecting his unwavering dedication to serving others. Bruce will attend the Provincial Volunteer Ceremony on behalf of all MODL Volunteers in September.
